Taiwan Summer Vacation – Part 4

For the last couple of days in Taiwan we visited a bunch of must-do tourist activities in Taipei. These are the places we went to.

National Palace Museum
The National Palace Museum is located further away from the city. We luckily had some friends with a car who kindly drove us there. The museum had a huge selection of historical pieces. You can easily spend 3-4 hours looking at every single item. Try the Dim Sum at Silks Palace next to the museum, the Xiaolongbao were superb!

Lungshun Temple
It is one of the largest and oldest temples in Taiwan. It is only a few stations away from Taipei Main station. It was interesting to see the detailed work of the temple and the use of bright colour. There were many people there offering a prayer and food to the gods.

Taipei 101 and Elephant Trail
This was the tallest building in the world from 2004 to 2010. The architecture of the building is very interesting and incorporates an oriental design.

The Elephant Trail is a nice easy walk up some steep steps. We walked until the viewing deck, where we got a good view Taipei city.

National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall

We visited this memorial hall at night and it was beautifully lit up. The memorial hall is surrounded by a park and two concert halls. Quite an amazing place to visit. I would like to come back and visit during the daytime too.
